Music Network Artist Residency Launch Concert: Peter Bernstein & the Phil Ware TrioTo celebrate a new artist residency in partnership with Triskel Christchurch and supported by Cork City Council, the ever-popular Phil Ware and his trio will be joined by guitarist Peter Bernstein in a special launch concert on Sunday 25th October that will kick off the pianist’s six-month tenure at Triskel in typically hard-swinging style.
|25 Oct, 2:30pm, €10||Triskel Christchurch, Cork|
A mainstay of the New York and international jazz scenes since 1989, Peter Bernstein’s career encompasses countless club and festival appearances. He has also appeared on more than eighty recordings, nine of them under his leadership. His impeccable sideman credentials include bands led by Sonny Rollins, Joshua Redman, Diana Krall, Bobby Hutcherson, Jimmy Cobb, Nicholas Payton and George Coleman, and he currently co-leads a highly acclaimed group with organist Larry Goldings and drummer Bill Stewart.
Phil Ware’s career as a pianist has taken him throughout Europe and as far afield as America, Asia and the Middle East. His long-standing piano trio, with Dave Redmond (bass) and Kevin Brady (piano), has twice been chosen to represent Ireland at the Eurojazz Festival in Mexico City. As a sideman, he has played with international figures such as Guy Barker, Perico Sambeat, Peter Ind, Ian Shaw, Gene Caldarazzo and heroes of the Acid Jazz revival, Pucho and the Latin Soul Brothers.
Initiated by Music Network, the residency includes a 5-date concert programme with Irish and international musicians of renown, as well as a series of outreach initiatives and musician mentorships.
