Crossing the Shannon Jan 2011
"Danú’s greatest asset is Nic Amhlaoibh’s magnificently earthy voice."
Siobhan Long, Irish Times, 2010
"It’s hard to beat the classic combination of flute and fiddle and no better men than John Wynne and John McEvoy to show us why."

WATCH JOHN WYNNE, JOHN MC EVOY AND JOHN BLAKE ON THE VIEW (11 JANUARY 2011) HERE!
Music Network presents acclaimed vocalist Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh and the three Johns – Wynne (flute), McEvoy (fiddle) and Blake (guitar, flute, bouzouki). History, geography and music intermingle as they celebrate the rich heritage of the West of Ireland. In times past, many fine musicians crossed the Shannon to board the emigrant boat, fuelling the vibrant Irish music scenes in London and Birmingham where John Blake and John McEvoy learned their craft. This tour is a musical homecoming, re-crossing the Shannon to explore the wild dance music, slow airs and haunting songs of the West that likewise inspired Muireann Nic Amhlaoidh and John Wynne, as they grew up in their respective home counties of Kerry and Roscommon.
Though Muireann is best known for her work with Danú, winning the BBC 2 Folk Award for "Best Group" in 2004, she has also performed with the likes of Julie Fowlis, Éamon Doorley, Darrell Scott, Liam Clancy and The Bulgarian Women’s Choir. Regarded as one of the best traditional Irish flute players of his generation, John Wynne is a regular collaborator with fiddler John McEvoy and both players are proud ambassadors for the music of North Connaught, while multi-instrumentalist John Blake is a highly sought after musician who has featured on albums by Lamond Gillespie, Mick Leahy, Colm Gannon and Sean Potts.
