Onyx Brass

"Supremely virtuoso, resplendent and dramatic, questing and deft...all delivered with a liberated and characterful imagination… some of the most thrilling chamber brass-playing of its kind."

Gramophone Magazine

"You have hit the jack-pot with these artists. Our audience just loved them. Almost a week later people are calling me about how much they enjoyed the concert."

Dubbed ‘easily the classiest brass ensemble in Britain’ by BBC Music magazine, the Onyx Brass ensemble has bedazzled audiences and critics alike all over Europe and the USA. Their mission:  to present the brass quintet as a serious medium for chamber music, with a special interest in bringing new works to the widest possible audience. To that end they have performed and recorded world premières by such musical big hitters as Jonathan Dove, Bob Chilcott, John McCabe, Judith Bingham and Michael Nyman.

Why do audiences love them so much? The quintet consists of top-notch players with principal positions in The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra of English National Opera, the English Chamber Orchestra, and the Royal Ballet Sinfonia. But the secret to their success lies in their utterly infectious enthusiasm for the repertoire and their ability to charm and educate their audience in equal measure. A must for lovers of classical and contemporary music at its finest. All doubters, prepare to be converted!
