Quartet for the end of Time

'In homage to the Angel of the Apocalypse, who raises his hand towards Heaven saying: "There shall be no more time"'.

Music Artists Management Ireland® present an Autumn Tour of Messiaen’s Quartett pour la fin du temps and Raymond Deane’s Ice flowers featuring virtuoso violinist Gwendolyn Masin, acclaimed Irish cellist Tara-Lee Angell, distinguished Portuguese clarinettist Sergio Neves and international prizewinning pianist Jovanni-Rey de Pedro.

Messiaen’s ethereal Quartett pour la fin du temps, inspired by text from the Book of Revelation was written in 1940 while Messiaen was a prisoner of war after he discovered amongst his fellow prisoners a clarinettist, cellist and violinist.  Messiaen said of its first performance in the concentration camp "Never was I listened to with such rapt attention and comprehension." Raymond Deane’s Ice Flowers was inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's celebrated tale The Snow Queen.

The concert tour is generously supported by Music Network’s Performance and Touring Award. Tickets are available from all concert venues.

Gwendolyn Masin has been described as “a natural performer with an authority most violinists would envy” (The Irish Times), “a formidable talent that demands attention” (The Sunday Business Post), “setting first-rate standards in concert performance with her technically superior, refined, intensive and richly contrasting expression” (Der Bund).Gwendolyn is the descendant of a long line of professional musicians from Central and Eastern Europe. Born in Amsterdam, she began her musical education at the age of three when, inspired by her Hungarian grandmother, she began to play the piano.
