As the national agency for the development of music in Ireland, Music Network has initiated research projects in music in healthcare and is campaigning for increased provision for music education.
Music Education

Since 2003, Music Network has campaigned for the need for enhanced music education provision in Ireland through the implementation of the recommendations of the Music Network Report, "A National System of Local Music Education Services".

In July 2009, U2 and The Ireland Funds announced that they will fund the national rollout of the scheme on a phased basis to 2015.

Music in Healthcare

Our Music in Healthcare initiatives aim to research and develop models for using live music in residential and day-care environments, which would impact favourably on the therapeutic environment and inform any future formulation of a national Arts and Health policy. Examples of work in this area are as follows:

As the national music development organisation, Music Network is committed to working in partnership with local organisations and groups to enable them to develop new ways of providing access to high quality live music, thereby enriching the musical life of their community.
