Music Network International Touring Programme

Information for Musicians and Agents

Before proceeding with enquiries regarding a Music Network tour or concert
s please thoroughly read the general information provided below

Tour Structures and Background

As determined by our Arts Council brief Music Network curates tours in the classical*, jazz and traditional Irish music genres only. Irish and Ireland based artists representing other musical genres should instead consider applying to the Performance and Touring Award for concert and touring opportunities. Music Network tours are arranged in seasons, Spring/Summer (January to May) and Autumn/Winter (September to December).

Music Network tours are arranged in seasons, Spring/Summer (January to May) and Autumn/Winter (September to December).

Music Network tours are planned up to 2 years in advance.

Currently there are 9 Music Network tours each year broken down as follows; 5 in Spring/ Summer comprising 3 classical, 2 traditional Irish; and 4 in Autumn/Winter comprising 2 classical, 1 traditional Irish and 1 jazz. This is dependent on ongoing funding and therefore subject to change.

Music Network tours are widely dispersed throughout the 32 counties of the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

As Music Network is committed to developing ongoing relationships with promoters, audiences and musicians, one-off concerts are not usually supported by the Touring Programme. Irish and Irish based musicians may be considered for the Musicwide programme.

To review the artists that have toured with Music Network since October 2000 please visit the Music Network tour archive.

* For Music Network tour purposes, classical includes Baroque/Early Music and Contemporary music.

How to proceed

Participation in the Music Network Touring Programme is by invitation only.

NB - currently the Music Network touring schedule is full throughout the next 3-4 seasons so there are no tour slots available, in any genre, for 18-24 months.

Should you wish to be considered for a Music Network tour beyond that time you should send an application pack to The Performance Programme Manager, Music Network, Coach House, Dublin Castle, Dublin 2, Ireland or email here . Where possible this should include biographies, reviews, sound recordings, video recordings, photographs, required fees and some imaginative programmes and performance ideas.

There are no formal application forms for Music Network tours.

Artistic programming meetings are held twice a year by the CEO and the Performance Programme Manager in January and September.

Music Network will not enter into any correspondence regarding decisions made with musicians not selected .

With the exception of the traditional Irish music tours the majority of musicians invited to tour are international artists.

Please note that only a very small percentage of Music Network touring musicians are chosen as a result of an unsolicited submission.

Music Network will acknowledge receipt of your material (by letter or email, not by telephone).

Music Network will review all material received, however, the volume of unsolicited material received by Music Network means it may be several months before you receive a definitive response.

Music Network will not return material for which return postage has not been prepaid. Should you require your material to be returned you must provide postage. Within the Republic of Ireland a stamped, self-addressed envelope sufficient to cover return postage must be included with your original submission. For international returns (including Northern Ireland) a self-addressed envelope and an international mailing coupon sufficient to cover return postage must be included with your original submission.

Never postpone, delay or turn down other concerts, tours or other work in the hope or expectation of being offered a Music Network tour.
