CALLING ALL YOUNG JAZZ GROUPS - MUSIC NETWORK INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR YOUNG MUSICWIDE AWARD 2010
Music Network invites aspiring young jazz musicians to apply for the YOUNG MUSICWIDE AWARD 2010. Young Musicwide is a unique professional development scheme designed to assist a selected group of Ireland’s brightest young musicians at the beginning of their professional career. The award this year is open to jazz ensembles of any instrumentation up to a maximum of five people. The closing date for completed applications is Monday 5th July 2010.

Music Network presents PORTICO QUARTET
Music Network presents the weird but wonderful sound of Mercury-prize nominated UK Portico Quartet on a national tour from Tuesday 16th – Thursday 25th February. Showcasing tunes from their recent album Isla which has been described by MOJO as a brew of, “… Steve Reich mathematics, Radiohead dread, African desert grooves and ECM northern melancholy …a chiming cavernous sound-world that is both exotic and hypnotic”.
