Avi Avital and Ksenija Sidorova to host workshops with Irish students

21 April 2015

Grammy-nominated mandolinist Avi Avital teams up with superstar accordionist Ksenija Sidorova this April for a six-date nationwide tour, with an exciting programme including Bartók, Bach, Piazzolla and Ian Wilson. As part of this tour, the duo will host workshops with young Irish musicians in Waterford and Mullingar, giving the students an opportunity to learn from some of the world's best performers.

On Thursday 23rd April, students of WIT Music School will participate in a workshop with Avi and Ksenija in the Georgian Large Room, City Hall, Waterford. A great mix of instruments including double bass, cello and violin will provide an interesting session. Later that evening, the students will have the opportunity to watch Avi and Ksenija perform in the same venue to a public audience.

Twenty accordionists of the Castletown Accordion Orchestra join Avi and Ksenija for a workshop in Mullingar on Saturday 25th April. The players range from Grade 5 students to diploma level accordionists. A Music Network concert will take place that evening in All Saints' Church, Mullingar.

Music Network is committed to connecting tours to music education programmes to give children and young people rich, holistic musical experiences. Already this year, pianist Joanna MacGregor has hosted workshops across the country as part of her March tour. Read more here.
