Listen to award-winning German cellist Leonard Elschenbroich as he talks about his life and his cello, saying, "Widening people's perspective of what the cello can do is very important....showing the spectrum of repertoire for cello."
He also discusses his childhood with Culture File's Luke Clancy, describing the first time he heard the opening of Bach's Cello Suite No. 3: "I was maybe five years old and I noticed that my eyes were welling up as I heard it...there was some sort of emotional connection I had with the sound of the cello."
