MUSIC NETWORK PRESENTS GET THE BLESSING ON TOUR 19 – 24 FEBRUARY
“The most original and exciting band on the British scene.” Jazzwise
“This is the kind of band who makes jazz fans out of people who don't expect to be.” The Guardian
Brace yourself for heavy riffing, shameless grooves and sly humour from one of the most original and exciting bands on the British jazz scene, Get The Blessing, on a Music Network tour from 19 - 24 February.  Lauded as ‘the heavyweights of the contemporary jazz scene’, the group includes bassist Jim Barr and drummer Clive Deamer - the former rhythm section from trip-hop legends Portishead - with the twin horns and electronics of saxophonist Jake McMurchie and trumpeter Pete Judge.  Music Network tours provide a wonderful opportunity to see some of the world’s foremost musicians at affordable prices in venues around Ireland, and are presented in association with RTÉ lyric fm.  Music Network is funded by the Arts Council. Further information from (01) 671 9429 or www.musicnetwork.ie.
One of the UK’s most thrilling live bands, Get The Blessing, is a glorious collision of hard-hitting rock and fleet-fingered jazz virtuosity. The result: thumping tunes, seriously infectious beats and wailing horn lines with more than a nod to free jazz maestro Ornette Coleman. Influences ranging from Morphine and Elvis Costello to The Ramones and Albert Ayler only add to the genre-bending mayhem.
Winners of the BBC Jazz Award 2008 for their debut album All Is Yes, Get The Blessing have garnered rave reviews since forming in 2000, when bassist Jim Barr and drummer Clive Deamer from Portishead joined forces with the twin horns and electronics of saxophonist Jake McMurchie and trumpeter Pete Judge. Top-notch session players with serious chops, as individuals the band members have performed with everyone from Radiohead, Jeff Beck, Alison Moyet and Roni Size to Hawkwind, Robert Plant and Peter Gabriel.
On Tour:  Tuesday 19 February DUBLIN (Whelan’s, 8pm), Thursday 21 February BELFAST (Limelight, 17 Ormeau Avenue, 9pm), Friday 22 February SLIGO (5th on Teeling, 5 Teeling St., 10pm), Saturday 23 February CARRICK-ON-SHANNON (The Dock, 8:30pm), Sunday 24 February CLIFDEN (Station House Theatre, 8pm)
