Music Network Announces Jazz Quintet Thought-Fox as Young Musicwide Awardees 2010

Music Network is delighted to announce jazz quintet Thought-Fox as awardees of Young Musicwide 2010, a unique professional development programme. Thought-Fox comprises some of the finest improvising musicians in Irish and UK jazz: Lauren Kinsella (voice), Colm O’Hara (trombone), Tom Gibbs (piano), Michael Coady (bass) and Simon Roth (drums).

Christmas Comes Early to Music Capital Scheme 2010 Awardees

The Arts Council in association with Music Network today announced the results of the Music Capital Scheme 2010, an initiative designed to provide support for the purchase of musical instruments. Thanks to additional funding provided by the Department of Tourism, Culture and Sport, a total of almost €300,000 has been awarded to twelve highly skilled individual musicians and twenty-two non-professional performing groups.

The Spring 2011 Season features five nationwide tours by an outstanding roster of Irish and international artists. Music Network tours provide a fantastic opportunity to experience the very best in international chamber, traditional and world music in venues throughout Ireland at affordable prices. Music Network tours are funded by the Arts Council and are presented in association with RTÉ lyric fm.

National Music Education Programme – Hugely Successful Seminar Series

Over 350 people throughout the country attended the recent National Music Education Programme Information Seminars, held in Kilkenny, Sligo, Limerick and Dublin. The seminars provided details about the upcoming programme, with the first round of applications expected to be announced in January 2011.
