Tour Dates

Celebrate Ireland’s wealth of talent with Music Network in a Culture Night of musical discovery and adventure.  This intimate evening of live music – encompassing classical, jazz and trad – kicks off at 7.30pm on Friday 18th September in Dublin’s prestigious RHA Gallery.

Performing music from across the centuries, Wicklow-based group Sonamus combines the old with the new in an eclectic programme including traditional Irish tunes and Bach re-imagined. Whistle player Cormac Breatnach, soundly based in the tradition, joins renowned cellist Annette Cleary and leading chamber musician Rachel Factor on harpsichord, weaving listeners into a unique soundscape.

Fresh from a successful Music Network tour earlier in the year, one of Ireland’s finest jazz singers Aoife Doyle is joined by fearless improviser Greg Felton on Fender Rhodes (“surely the most gifted young pianist on the scene” – The Irish Times) and innovative trombonist Colm O’Hara, as Ear Storm Trio. Curated by Music Network for Culture Night, the group’s bold compositions and adventurous improvisations take inspiration from folk melodies, jazz harmonies and Indian and African rhythms.

Wrapping up the evening are three of Ireland’s most formidable trad musicians in a specially curated Music Network line-up. Former All-Ireland fiddle champion Tom Morrow is well known as a member of trad group Dervish. He is joined by Alan Doherty, one of the country’s most respected flute players, lead soloist on the Lord of the Rings soundtrack, and founder member of Gráda. Dublin guitarist Tony Byrne, who has performed with such artists as Sharon Shannon, Michael McGoldrick and Bela Fleck, completes the group.
