Mayo Arts Service
The Music Generation Mayo Instrument Banks are a countywide resource, offering affordable rental of a huge variety of instruments to young people under 18 years of age, resident in Co. Mayo. Instruments are available to rent at a nominal fee for a six month period, with loan renewals possible subject to waiting lists. There are three separate banks to serve the entire county, situated in Castlebar, Ballina and Belmullet. They are housed and administered by the staff at Mayo County Library. These instrument banks were established in conjunction with Music Generation Mayo as a result of a plan formulated by the Arts Service of Mayo County Council. The provision of affordable instruments is one of the key actions outlined in the strategic plan for music in the county, generated by Mayo’s Music Education Partnership. Borrowers must be library members and application forms, which also outline terms and conditions, must be completed and signed by a parent/guardian on collection of the instrument. A deposit fee and rental fee are payable when borrowing an instrument. The deposit is refundable when the instrument is returned in good condition.
Castlebar Instrument Bank
The musical instrument office at Castlebar library will be open for collection and return of instruments each Thursday from 1:30pm - 4:30pm, by appointment only.

Ballina Instrument Bank
