Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Arts Office Musician-in-Residence Q&A with Susan McKeown

19 September 2018

On Friday 28th September at 1pm, vocalist and songwriter Susan McKeown, musician-in-residence at Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Arts Office invites locals to join her and guitarist Ger Kiely for a Q&A at dlr LexIcon as she shares her song writing process.

As musician-in-residence, Grammy award‐winning and BBC Folk Music Award nominated McKeown has developed a series of songs about her experience as a woman living in Dun Laoghaire Rathdown today, taking inspiration from her own life and everyday encounters with people in the town as well as the Pier, the Forty Foot, Killiney Hill and beyond. Commenting on the Q&A Susan says:

“I’m looking forward to talking about the process and how the songs are forming and I will illustrate this through giving some background to my research and performing excerpts of the songs I'm writing with Ger Kiely on guitar”.

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Arts Office Musicians-in-Residence Scheme 2018 is jointly funded by the Arts Council, and managed by Music Network.
