Music Capital Scheme Awardees performing in St. Patrick’s Day celebrations

We are delighted to see that a number of Music Capital Scheme awardees of recent years are performing in various locations around the country as part of this year's St. Patrick's Day celebrations. Best of luck to all our awardees taking part!


Cullen Pipe Band

(Awarded in 2015)


The Cullen Pipe Band are having a very busy week! Last Sunday 13th March, they led the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Rathmore Village. Tomorrow, they will be marching in four parades throughout the day, Boherbue Co. Cork, Castleisland Co. Kerry, then returning to Cork for parades in Macroom and Millstreet. Their final parade of the run is in Carriganimme on Sunday 20th March.


Music Together

(Awarded in 2015, 2012)


The Greystones-based ensemble will be entertaining the crowds with a samba drumming session in Greystones Main Street on the morning of St. Patrick's Day.


Gleneagle Concert Band

(Awarded in 2014)


This group will be marching in parades in both Tralee and Killarney on St. Patrick’s Day.


Ardee Concert Band

(Awarded in 2014)


The Ardee Concert Band have led the Ardee parade each year since it began in 1968. This year’s Grand Marshal will be Kevin O’Brien, one of the group’s honorary presidents.


Clondalkin Youth Band

(Awarded in 2014)


This band will be performing in the St. Patrick’s Festival Parade in Dublin City Centre, a 2.5 kilometre route, and the biggest and most extravagant parade outside New York. They will go on to march in two regional Dublin parades, Clondalkin and Lucan.


MaSamba Samba School

(Awarded in 2014, 2013, 2011)


MaSamba Samba School have been busy preparing for the Claremorris Parade


Finglas Concert & Marching Band

(Awarded in 2014, 2013, 2012)


The Finglas Concert & Marching Band will be travelling down to Wexford to march in the Enniscorthy Parade.


Blanchardstown Brass Band

(Awarded in 2013)


This band have already had an outing, marching in the St. Patrick’s Festival Parade in Dunboyne last Sunday 13th March, and are taking part in the parade in Kilcock on St. Patrick’s Day.


Splanc Dingle Carnival Band

(Awarded in 2013)


Splanc  will be performing in their local parade in Dingle.


De La Salle Scout Pipe Band

(Awarded in 2012)


De La Salle are taking part in two parades on St. Patrick’s Day, Waterford and Dungarvan.


Mullingar Town Band

(Awarded in 2012)


This band will be marching in a total of FIVE PARADES on 17th March! The midlands-based marching band founded in 1879 are taking part in parades in Tullamore, Clara, Tyrells Pass, Mullingar and Castlepollard.


The Music Capital Scheme, supported by the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and managed by Music Network, provides funding for the purchase of musical instruments to both non-professional performing groups and professional musicians.

A total of €181,350 has been awarded to 19 performing groups and 13 individual musicians under the Music Capital Scheme 2015, bringing to 227 the number of awards granted to musicians and organisations under the scheme, supporting Music Network’s mission to make live music happen throughout Ireland.
