Music Network presents British saxophonist Trish Clowes’ My Iris project on tour 6 – 11 February

10 January 2018

 “Awesome foursome” – The Observer

“Trish Clowes is a fiercely talented jazz saxophonist” – The Telegraph

“Musical wizardry” – All About Jazz [on My Iris]

“Whatever planet Trish Clowes and her band were on when they recorded this, I want to be there!” – BBC Radio 3 [on My Iris]

Save the date for the intriguing British saxophonist Trish Clowes’ My Iris project from 6-11 February. The adventurous Clowes, BASCA British Composer Award winner and former BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist, fronts this outstanding jazz quartet featuring some of the UK’s finest musicians, whose performances have been described as the “jazz of the future” – Augsburger Allgemeine.  Details at

An agile improviser and songwriter in the mould of Wayne Shorter, Clowes has been much lauded for her melodic imagination and “magisterial” tone. Previously known for genre-bending collaborations with improvising string quartets and orchestras, her take on jazz is playful, engaging – and hugely accomplished.

Clowes is joined by a trio of long-term collaborators showcasing original tunes from the saxophonist’s highly-acclaimed fourth album My Iris: the impeccable James Maddren on drums, award-winning Troyka guitarist Chris Montague, and keyboard virtuoso Ross Stanley, who has played with such jazz luminaries as Dennis Rollins, Guy Barker, Ian Shaw, Stan Sulzmann and John Parricelli, as well as being a regular member of the Jim Mullen Organ Trio.

Music Network's Spring 2018 Season continues in March with an edge-of-the-seat performance from the extraordinary Russian pianist Anna Tsybuleva, who caught global attention on the classical scene after winning the Leeds International Piano Competition in 2015. April brings a unique coming together of two of classical music’s brightest stars as Franco-Spanish guitarist Thibaut Garcia and German cellist Isang Enders give a masterclass in understated beauty, while in May vocalists Heidi Talbot and Breanndán Ó Beaglaoich, aided and abetted by award winning multi-instrumentalist John McCusker and guitarist Paul Meehan, bring the season to a suitably high-spirited close.  All this and two new Music Network commissions by Irish composers Siobhán Cleary and Benjamin Dwyer for our March and April tours!

Music Network tours are funded by the Arts Council and are presented in association with RTÉ lyric fm. Tickets for all regional concerts are available from individual venues around the country. Single tickets for Dublin concerts range from €10 – €20 (including free programme) and can be purchased by calling Music Network on (01) 475 0224 or booking online at Booking fees apply.
