Music Network welcomes U2 announcement
09 September 2015
“We had been looking for some time for a way to get involved in an initiative in music education in Ireland. After talking to various people in Ireland about what to do, we came to the conclusion that the Music Network scheme is really well thought out and that we, in partnership with the Ireland Funds, should just get behind it.” – The Edge
Since 2003, Music Network has campaigned for better music education provision in Ireland. We moved one step closer to this goal in 2010, when Music Network established Music Generation as a subsidiary company on foot of a generous €7 million donation by U2 and The Ireland Funds.
Music Network is delighted that U2 has made a further commitment to Music Network’s vision, Music Generation’s work, and music education in Ireland, with today’s exciting announcement. €2 million raised from U2's Dublin concerts in late 2015 will go towards furthering the development of Music Generation’s national infrastructure.
