Nationwide tour this September with Tara Breen, Laoise Kelly, Josephine Marsh and Nell Ní Chróinín
01 August 2019
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Four of Ireland’s very finest traditional musicians will perform together for the first time in the opening tour of Music Network’s 2019/20 Season this September. Tara Breen (fiddle) Laoise Kelly (harp) Josephine Marsh (accordion) and singer Nell Ní Chróinín will tour from 11th to 23rd September, with eleven concerts around Ireland as well as an appearance in London. Tickets are on sale now, visit musicnetwork.ie for full information.
Tara Breen, Laoise Kelly, Josephine Marsh and Nell Ní Chróinín have been setting the bar high as performers both at home and around the globe. Name-checking Danú, Kate Bush, The Chieftains and Christy Moore amongst their collaborators and with Presidents Obama, Clinton, Higgins and the Queen as audience members, these artists have a quiet authority that comes with true mastery and understanding of their music and heritage.
Dedicated and passionate, they’ll lead audiences through a programme of traditional tunes and songs, and for good measure, into a new Music Network commission by Josephine, a gifted tunesmith. This is a warm and intimate conversation of equals, one on which listeners are privileged to eavesdrop.
Music Network’s Autumn touring programme continues in October with virtuoso percussionists Alex Petcu, Emma King and Brian Dungan of Bangers and Crash Percussion Group, followed by the captivating leader of the new wave of young European improvising trumpeters Airelle Besson and her compelling trio. In November Scottish guitarist Sean Shibe will tour with “increasingly hot property in the opera business” Ben Johnson – bringing intensity and a new clarity to Bach, Giuliani and Walton, and adventure and risk to contemporary work.
Ticket prices range from €5-€25 depending on the venue and special offer ticket bundles are available for Dublin concerts.
