Music Network today announced the deadlines for the Performance & Touring Award 2011. Closing date for receipt of applications for the first round of the Performance & Touring Award 2011 is 5pm Monday 14th February. The deadline for the second round of funding is Monday 13th June. Further information, application packs and guidelines for all schemes are available here.
The Performance and Touring Award was established by Music Network in partnership with the Arts Council to assist Irish and Ireland-based musicians in realising performance opportunities; to offer increased employment opportunities to Irish musicians; develop the skills base of Irish artists in areas such as project planning and administration, self-promotion and self-management; and offer a new source of music programming to concert promoters, and in turn to audiences throughout Ireland.
The award is open to musicians and ensembles of all genres that are of Irish nationality or resident in Ireland. Projects eligible for the award will include tours, concert series and individual concerts to take place anywhere within the Republic of Ireland. The award is also open to multidisciplinary projects with live music as a key element, and to collaborative projects involving other Irish or visiting international artists. Recipients of the award in the past include indie-rock quartet The Flaws and Fresh Air, a series of concerts curated by DJ Donal Dineen and including Choice Prize winner 2009 Adrian Crowley, traditional Irish musicians and ensembles including the Alan Kelly Quartet, Cora Smyth, Lorcán Mac Mathúna and Fiona Kelleher, jazz musicians and ensembles such as the Dublin Jazz Orchestra, Francesco Turrisi and the Alex Mathias Quartet and classical musicians, Finghin Collins, Isabelle O’Connell, Conor Biggs, Darragh Morgan and Camerata Kilkenny.
