2. Tara Breen is a musical wizard
Tara Breen is the fiddler with the legendary Cheiftans. She’s an all-round extraordinary musician who plays 9 instruments! She is the winner of both the coveted Fiddler of Dooney and Michael Coleman Fiddle competitions and was invited to perform at Dublin Castle for the Queen of England during her State visit to Ireland.
3. Laoise Kelly is a revolutionary harper
Regarded as “the most significant harper of her generation”, Laoise has recorded on over 60 albums with many of Ireland’s foremost artists. Laoise has revolutionised the solo Irish harp and “has made it OK for a harp to sit in the centre of the session and be the heart of the trad band headlining the festival.” – Niall Keegan, Irish World Academy, UL
4. Josephine Marsh knows a thing or two about writing a great tune
Josephine’s music career has seen her perform in Australia, Europe and America, with a highlight being an invitation to perform for President Clinton on Capitol Hill. She is a composer of considerable note and her compositions have been recorded by many revered artists such as Cherish the Ladies, Mike McGoldrick, The London Lassies and Líadan.
5. The soaring beauty of Nell Ní Chróinín's voice
Currently the lead singer with high-powered traditional band Danú, Nell Ní Chróinín is a celebrated sean-nós singer. The Irish Times described Nell as “a singer to watch as she spreads her wings beyond the world of solo sean-nós” and the Journal of Music said she’s “commonly acknowledged as the most exciting traditional singing talent of her generation”.
