There is now a structure in place or planned for every city and county to deliver music education to children and young people for the first time ever, following the launch of Music Generation. An initiative of Music Network, Music Generation is Ireland’s National Music Education Programme, funded by U2 and The Ireland Funds.

The Arts Council will be offering an information and advice session for organizations, ensembles, individual musicians, promoters, agents etc. in relation to the specifics of the Arts Council’s Touring and Dissemination of Work Scheme, the next deadline for which will be May 5th, 2011.

U2 have been given the National Philanthropist of the Year Award for their involvement with Music Generation, Ireland’s National Music Education Programme which aims to help children and young people access vocal and instrumental tuition in their own locality.

Music Network today announced the results of the first round of the Performance & Touring Award 2011. As the national music development agency, this funding scheme is part of a range of Music Network activities that aim to support musicians working at a professional level in Ireland.

Music Network has announced the deadline for the YOUNG MUSICWIDE AWARD 2011. Young Musicwide is a unique professional development scheme designed to assist a selected group of Ireland’s brightest young groups at the beginning of their professional career. This year the scheme is open to traditional Irish music groups. Through an audition process, a young, traditional Irish music group with a proven interest in performance will be selected to participate in the Young Musicwide Award programme for three years. The closing date for completed applications is Friday 10th June 2011.

The Geneva-based Tersycordes Quartet are on a Music Network tour of Ireland from 4-12 March, performing works by Mozart, Brahms, Deirdre McKay and Henri Dutilleux

Music Generation, the U2 and Ireland Funds supported National Music Education Programme, was officially unveiled today. Initiated by Music Network, Music Generation aims to help children and young people to access music education in their own locality. The call went out for applications from local Music Education Partnerships across the country seeking to apply for funding. Deadline for applications is 31st March 2011.
