Music Network’s Spring 2017 season features an exciting new collaboration performing music and songs from Ireland and Scotland, one of the UK's most in demand jazz ensembles, sublime chamber music from an intriguing French classical duo, a very special tour that brings together four of Ireland’s most gifted female violinists for the first time and concludes with an American string band superstar.

To celebrate Music Network’s 30th anniversary year, a number of special events and commissions took place in addition to its Autumn tours, including the premiere of a Music Network-commissioned work for large-scale harp ensemble by the celebrated Irish composer Philip Martin.

The final tour of Music Network's Autumn 2016 season featured two dazzling virtuosi Anneleen Lenaerts & Dionysis Grammenos, performing the premiere of a new Music Network commission by Irish composer Anne-Marie O’Farrell, as well as works from the Romantic era by Schumann, Schubert, Smetana and Verdi. The chamber duo visited Dublin, Tralee, Dún Laoghaire, Clifden, Portlaoise and Castlebar.

Music Network today welcomed the announcement by Heather Humphreys TD, Minister for Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, confirming capital funds of €210,000 for the Music Capital Scheme 2016.

The Hot Club of Cowtown rolled into town for a Music Network tour in Autumn 2016 and visited venues in Dublin, Letterkenny, Newbridge, Drogheda, Cork, Clifden, Castlebar, Dún Laoghaire, Antrim, Bangor and Belfast.

For each of our tours, we commission influential writers to add flavour to our programmes. Classical journalist and reviewer Pat O'Kelly compiled the programme notes for the harp and clarinet programme of Schumann, Schubert, Smetana and Dovreglio. Irish composer Anne-Marie O'Farrell supplied a programme note on her new piece "Klaria", commissioned by Music Network especially for this tour.

Music Network and Chamber Choir Ireland presented a very special collaboration between the Choir and Chatham Saxophone Quartet, in a programme of exquisite spiritual music featuring repertoire by Arvo Pärt, Gesualdo, Kantscheli, Bruckner and Britten, conducted by renowned British musicologist James Wood. They performed at venues in Drogheda, Limerick, Belfast, Dublin and Wexford.

Music Network presents Trio Mediæval and Arve Henriksen in Dublin and Wexford on 26th and 27th November 2016. Cross-genre collaboration with Norwegian jazz trumpeter Arve Henriksen and Oslo’s early music ensemble Trio Mediaeval in a programme of Icelandic, Norwegian and Swedish hymns, chants and folk songs.
