Support New Commissions

All music was new music once. And all art forms need to innovate in order to stay relevant and thrive. Commissioning is a vital part of the work we do to nurture music and musicians in Ireland.

Opportunities exist for patrons to develop a lasting cultural legacy by supporting this area of our work.

Your support will provide employment and promotional opportunities for Irish composers, while helping children, students and curious audiences connect with new music through a range of related participation and learning activities during our national tours.

In 2021, world premiere performances of new music commissioned by Music Network will include works by Ronan Guilfoyle, Emma O’Halloran, Conor Linehan, as well as a collaborative commission from our curated February tour. Our co-production of Brian Irvine’s HOUSE with The Ark will bring thrilling new music to family audiences around Ireland.

Exciting future opportunities include plans for a new large-scale work by the acclaimed Irish composer Jennifer Walshe. Reflecting on teenage life as experienced and idolised through popular culture, the show will tour nationally featuring both professional and young performers, and will incorporate a wide variety of related participatory activities for community and school groups.

Support at the following levels will have a significant impact on our work in this area:
