Compressed Musician in Residence at St Johns Listowel Final Performance Oct 2024 34 1
To mark National Heritage Week, Music Network is delighted to present a very special concert by acclaimed musician and composer Patrick stefan at Ionad Cultúrtha, Baile Mhúirne.

Patrick stefan (guitar/vocals) will be joined by Jayne Pomplas (fiddle) and Jason McNamara (percussion) for this unique performance, which will feature music composed by Patrick stefan during his 2024 residency including settings of texts by John B. Keane and Barbara Derbyshire. In addition, there will be a world premiere of a new Music Network commission—an Irish language song, inspired by Baile Mhúirne and its rich cultural heritage.

Appointed Musician-in-Residence in 2024 by Music Network and St. John’s Theatre and Arts Centre, Listowel, Patrick was the first artist to take part in a residency specifically designed for a professional musician who is Autistic/person with Autism. In 2025, Music Network, in partnership with Ionad Cultúrtha, will launch the second edition of this important residency, which will take place in Baile Mhúirne during October and November.

Patrick stefan is an Irish singer-songwriter known for his entrancing, genre-blending folk music that fuses the traditional with the contemporary. Recent performances include showcases at Folk Alliance International USA, Your Roots Are Showing and Whelan’s Ones to Watch. He is quickly earning a reputation as a must-see live act, captivating audiences with his hypnotic stage presence and folk charm.

The concert offers audiences a chance to experience the powerful creative outcomes of the Musician-in-Residence programme and celebrate the upcoming residency opportunity here in Baile Mhúirne for 2025.

Join us for an evening of music that celebrates cultural heritage, musical innovation, and the Irish language in the heart of the Gaeltacht.

This event is funded by The Heritage Council with additional support from Ionad Cultúrtha.
