Ennis Brass Band

Ennis Brass Band is currently under the leadership of Mark Nutley. Mark was appointed Musical Director of the band in early 2017 and has brought the band from strength to strength, continually challenging each member to fulfil their potential. This has transformed the culture and attitude of the band, resulting in the band exploring different opportunities to perform.

The band currently has 30+ dedicated members drawn from all areas of the community. The dedication and commitment of every member over the past five decades has contributed to the success the band enjoys today.

Ennis Brass Band was reformed in 1971 and in the years that followed the band entered various competitions throughout Ireland, winning several national titles and sectional awards along the way. The band has travelled extensively since the early 1990s to England, Wales, Germany, Scotland and France. In Germany in 1995, during one of the local concerts, the band recorded their first audio tape to showcase the varied repertoire of music that the band performed.

The band visited the Aran Islands in 2012 and performed on all three islands in one day – a feat in itself! In 2012 the band recorded a new CD entitled “Brassed On” in St. Columba’s Church, Ennis, Co. Clare. The band has been privileged to play for many distinguished guests such as President Michael D. Higgins, former President Mary McAleese, Muhammad Ali and King Juan Carlos of Spain. The band has also performed at local venues with various international music groups including Verbandsjugendorchester Hochrhein (Germany), Elgin Park Secondary School Band (Canada) and North Suburban Concert Band (Minnesota).
