Music Network has announced the final tour of its Autumn 2021 National Touring Programme featuring two phenomenal classical musicians, violinist Tamsin Waley-Cohen and pianist George Fu.

The 6-date nationwide tour with will run from 17 – 24 November with stops in Dún Laoghaire, Waterford, Ennis, Birr, Baile Mhúirne and Dublin. For tickets please visit www.musicnetwork.ie.

This charismatic violin and piano duo will present a beautiful programme of work that includes the F-A-E Sonata, uniquely co-authored by three great 19th century composers Dietrich, Brahms & Schumann, Stravinsky’s exquisite Duo Concertant, Beethoven’s much loved ‘Kreutzer’ Sonata and Release, a Music Network commission written by New York-based Irish composer Finola Merivale. Finola Merivale will also present a Composer Insight Session during the first concert of the tour ahead of her work’s live world premiere in the Pavilion Theatre, Dún Laoghaire.

Widely praised for her expressive and strikingly individual performances, Tamsin Waley-Cohen has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in many of the world’s great concert halls. An adventurous and prolific recording artist, her recent recording of Beethoven Violin Sonatas on the Signum Classics label has received widespread critical acclaim. In addition to concerts with the London Philharmonic, Hallé, Liverpool Philharmonic, Czech Philharmonic, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony, Royal Northern Sinfonia and BBC orchestras amongst others, Tamsin has twice been associate artist with the Orchestra of the Swan and works with many conductors including Andrew Litton, Vasily Petrenko, Ben Gernon, Ryan Bancroft and Tamás Vásáry.

Described by the Boston Music Intelligencer as a “heroic piano soloist” with “stunning virtuosity”, American pianist George Xiaoyuan Fu has established an international reputation as a captivating musician with distinctive intelligence and sensitivity. George has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, North Carolina Symphony, Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra and the Curtis Symphony Orchestra, and collaborated with conductors such as Michael Tilson Thomas, Stefan Asbury, Kensho Watanabe, Vinay Parameswaran and Jonathan Berman. Passionate about the creation of new work, he is also a composer and an avid performer of contemporary music.
