Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and Music Network are pleased to announce details of the 2021 Musicians-in-Residence Scheme. Established and emerging musicians and groups with a strong connection to Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown are invited to apply.
The scheme is jointly funded by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and the Arts Council, and managed by Music Network. Three residencies are offered in 2021: two for established musicians/groups and one for an emerging musician/group. The first residency will take place online. The closing date for applications is Wednesday 31st March at 2p.m. Full application guidelines are available HERE.
The aim of the Musicians-in-Residence Scheme is to provide opportunities to develop and showcase new work which may be compositional and/or performance focused, i.e. to create new material and/or to develop a new artistic collaboration.
An Cathaoirleach Councillor Úna Power said: “Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is delighted to offer this opportunity for musicians to focus on creation of new music. At this time it is more important than ever to provide opportunities for creativity and the arts to flourish.”
Commenting on the announcement, CEO of Music Network Sharon Rollston said: “Music Network looks forward to managing this scheme again in 2021, and to supporting the selected musicians in realising exciting new projects that will evolve their artistic practice and add to the rich legacy of material created by previous awardees."
dlr Arts Office and Music Network will present an information webinar on March 11th 2021 at 11 a.m. to outline details of the scheme and to answer any specific questions. Musicians wishing to attend this webinar should book a place HERE. Registration is essential. A recording of the webinar will also be made available on Music Network's website and social media channels from 12th March 2021.
The dlr Musicians-in-Residence Scheme was established in 2015. Previous Musicians-in-Residence have included composer and guitarist Dave Flynn, the Tommy Halferty Trio, chamber group Ikigai, percussionist and composer Éamonn Cagney, improvising pianist and composer Izumi Kimura, composer, sound designer and multi-instrumentalist Lara Gallagher, vocalist and songwriter Susan McKeown, pianist and composer Conor Linehan, sound artist and composer Craig Cox, musician and composer Sebastian Adams, The Eidola Trio, soprano Elizabeth Hilliard with composer Gráinne Mulvey, jazz drummer Matthew Jacobson and Metier, a jazz quintet led by Ronan Guilfoyle.
