OPEN CALL: MUSIC NETWORK ARTIST RESIDENCY 2018

Music Network is delighted to announce the Music Network Artist Residency 2018, an exciting opportunity for professional performing musicians. The Residency aims to provide a musician with funding in order to plan and deliver a series of concerts commencing in Autumn 2018, with integrated audience development components, in partnership with Wicklow County Council Arts Office and Mermaid County Wicklow Arts Centre. Full details on how to submit an Expression of Interest below.

We are inviting professional musicians, working primarily in classical, jazz/improvised or traditional music who have a strong track record in music performance and a clear commitment to audience development to submit an Expression of Interest in the Programme.

The Music Network Artist Residency Programme has been developed to provide the selected musician with access to resources to curate a 6-date concert series to take place within a 6 – 9 month timeframe, in collaboration with Music Network, Mermaid Arts Centre and Wicklow County Council Arts Office. It is intended that this programme will positively intersect with local authority arts development plans and venues’ programming priorities and potentially, the work of a range of community music groups.

Initiated by Music Network in 2015, and developed in partnership with Triskel Christchurch and supported by Cork City Council, the programme delivered a concert series featuring Irish and international musicians of renown curated by pianist Phil Ware, as well as outreach initiatives and musician mentorships involving a selected group of students from CIT Cork School of Music and tutors from Music Generation Cork City. In 2017 the programme was developed in collaboration with Wexford County Council Arts Office and the National Opera House, Wexford and was curated by guitarist Redmond O’Toole. In conjunction with the concert series, an extensive Learning and Participation programme was developed that engaged with a range of community groups.

Music Network is now calling for Expressions of Interest in the 2018 Residency. Download the Guidelines document from musicnetwork.ie/musicians/opportunities.

Expressions of Interest should be submitted by email (operations@musicnetwork.ie) to Music Network, no later than 2pm, Friday 20th April 2018. Please note late applications cannot be accepted.
